Capture the Moment

Reality is illusive, especially in a society that gives so much importance to accessories, things, fame. What is real? What is truly felt or just exaggerated, made up or imagined? Is that reality too? What are the moments that touch the core, become imprinted in the being of a person enough to define or change them, enough to alter even by a single degree the course of their life. Or does the general direction not matter, just the heartfelt moments. What is a life truly lived? A life marked by important struggles, obstacles that if addressed and conquered make a person stronger, wiser, bigger and better, or a life of ease and enjoyment where strength, resolve, determination, commitment are never tested. Or is life as simple as the warmth of a helping hand, a walk through a silent forest, a sip of water after an eternity of thirst, the taste of chocolate, the feel of the sun on skin, grains of sand falling through the fingers...

A famous photographer once said that life is moments and his job was to capture them on film, to immortalize them. From his expression I could tell that he was sifting through the innumerable memories in his mind; weddings, baptisms, funerals, birthday parties, inaugurations. In his recollection I saw absolute happiness, like the life he lived, his memories and pictures, are his most priced possession. These moments; the laughs, the tears and even the mistakes are more meaningful than anything as fleeting as fame and fortune.
